"'Demon Slayer': Giyuu's 'It's None of My Business' Sparks Outrage, Viewers Comment 'That's Bound to Upset Someone' and 'He's Not Good with Words'"

A new episode of the anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," titled "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc," aired on Fuji TV on the 12th, causing a stir online due to a comment made by the character Giyuu Tomioka during a Hashira meeting.

In the first episode, the Hashiras gathered at the Ubuyashiki residence where the Hashira meeting was held, and the method for manifesting marks was discussed by Muichiro. The meeting kicked off the Hashira training, aimed at strengthening the entire Demon Slayer Corps.

During the meeting, Tomioka's standoffish remarks, "I'm different from you guys," "You six should discuss this. It has nothing to do with me," led to intense reactions. Sanemi Shinazugawa retorted, "Hey, wait. That's rude," while Kyojuro Rengoku stated, "What do you mean it's none of your business? You lack the awareness of being a Hashira," and Shinobu Kocho also reprimanded, "Mr. Tomioka, please explain your reasons. You're certainly not saying enough." The online community has reacted strongly, with comments such as, "Giyuu's attitude at the Hashira meeting is more than just being taciturn, everyone including Shinobu and Kyojuro is rightly upset," "Giyuu, always a man of few words but now he's gone too far," "Really curious why Tomioka behaved that way, hope next week's episode sheds some light," and "Tomioka's attitude was so bad it was actually funny. I understand he feels he can't contribute much, but that way of speaking comes off as arrogant. He's always been poor at expressing himself."

"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc" is based on volumes 15 and 16 of the original manga, depicting the story where Tanjiro and his comrades receive training from the highest-ranked swordsmen, the Hashiras, to become stronger. "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from February 2016 to May 2020, becoming a massively popular series with over 150 million copies of the comics in circulation. Set in the Taisho era inhabited by man-eating demons, the story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who joins the "Demon Slayer Corps" to avenge his family killed by demons and to turn his demon-turned sister Nezuko back into a human. This was followed by the blockbuster movie "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train," which continued from the final episode of the anime, and the second season, "Entertainment District Arc," broadcast from December 2021. The third season, "Swordsmith Village Arc," aired in April 2023.
