The Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2025 ceremony was held on May 25 at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc took home the prestigious Best Animation Award, with voice actor Takahiro Sakurai, who plays Giyu Tomioka, taking the stage on behalf of the production.

Sakurai appeared in an all-black jacket ensemble. When asked about his current feelings, he shared, “It was an award announced right at the beginning of the ceremony. I was aware that we had been nominated, but I didn’t expect to be called up on stage so suddenly. I was nervous. But Dean-san greeted me with a warm smile, and thanks to that smile, I was able to speak calmly.” He expressed his appreciation to award presenter Dean Fujioka for helping him relax during the tense moment.

Reflecting on the recording process, Sakurai said, “This project has been ongoing for years, so the recording sessions have been smooth and steady.” However, he also noted, “The story is approaching its climax, and that sense of intensity is definitely present in the recording sessions.”

Regarding international reactions, Sakurai shared, “When I went to Mexico and Brazil, I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm that transcended borders. Despite being a fantasy rooted in traditional Japanese culture, fans abroad embraced it without any sense of discomfort. That made me very happy.”

Sakurai concluded by encouraging overseas fans to continue supporting the series. As he exited the interview room, he caught a glimpse of the award ceremony on a monitor, where Kana Hanazawa, the voice of Mitsuri Kanroji, was on stage to accept the Best Continuing Series Award. Upon seeing his “fellow cast member,” Sakurai smiled warmly.
