The official spinoff manga Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury — Youth Frontier begins serialization on Comic Newtype starting May 23. To celebrate its debut, the Comic Newtype editorial team shared newly drawn character illustrations via their official X account. The artwork features the “Three House” representatives — Guel Jeturk, Elan Ceres, and Shaddiq Zenelli — dressed in modern school uniforms.

A Parallel Story Set in a Near-Future Japan

Youth Frontier presents an alternate universe setting where Suletta Mercury and Miorine Rembran experience high school life in near-future Japan. This slice-of-life take offers a refreshing contrast to the intense political and technological drama of the original anime.

The scenario is written by HISADAKE, a member of the creative team Morion Airlines, who was also involved in the original anime as a concept and setting contributor. The manga is illustrated by Hiro Hata, a devoted fan of The Witch from Mercury, who also handles costume design for the series.

Returning to the World of The Witch from Mercury

The original Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury anime aired from October 2022 and concluded in July 2023. It depicted a future where powerful corporations have expanded into space, forming vast economic blocs. The story follows Suletta Mercury, a girl from Mercury who transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology, operated by the leading Mobile Suit conglomerate, the Benerit Group.

Suletta lights a crimson flame in her innocent heart as she takes her first steps into an unknown world — a tale that captivated audiences and brought new energy to the Gundam franchise.
