Announced during the franchise’s 20th anniversary event in April 2022, KINGDOM HEARTS IV marks the next mainline installment in the beloved series. A teaser trailer released at the time depicted Sora battling Heartless in a modern cityscape resembling Tokyo, sparking excitement and speculation among fans.
According to the latest statement:
“KINGDOM HEARTS IV is currently in active development. We are working hard to create a game that meets your expectations. We appreciate your continued patience.”
Notably, this announcement comes just a day after Square Enix confirmed the cancellation of KINGDOM HEARTS Missing-Link, a mobile game that was also introduced during the 20th anniversary celebration. The timing suggests an intentional reaffirmation of the development status of KINGDOM HEARTS IV.
The latest screenshots show updates to the game’s UI, particularly the gauge located at the bottom right corner of the screen, which appears different from the one featured in the original 2022 “KINGDOM HEARTS 20th Anniversary Announcement Trailer.”
