Demon Slayer Launches 15 Transit Ads Featuring the Hashira Cutting Through Exam Stress, Anxiety, and Pressure

On May 9, Waseda Academy unveiled a new collaboration with the hit anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba as part of its summer seminar campaign. From May 12 through June 30, a total of 15 unique transit ads will appear across major train stations in the Tokyo metropolitan area, each featuring a character from the Demon Slayer Corps slashing through a student challenge such as “pressure,” “anxiety,” or “fear.”

In select stations, the highest-ranking swordsmen of the Corps—the nine Hashira—make special appearances. Each Hashira is depicted cutting through a specific obstacle, making their empowering messages a highlight for commuters. There’s even a full Hashira group ad in some locations.

Additionally, six new web videos are now available on the campaign’s special website. Under the theme “Become Stronger,” these videos feature characters like Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado confronting challenges such as “difficulty,” “weakness,” and “loneliness,” symbolizing the struggles students face on their path to success.

Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, Demon Slayer has become a record-breaking phenomenon with over 150 million manga copies sold. Set in the Taisho era, the story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a boy whose family is killed by demons and whose sister, Nezuko, is transformed into one. He joins the Demon Slayer Corps to find a cure and avenge his family.

The anime adaptation began with the Tanjiro Kamado: Unwavering Resolve Arc (2019), followed by the blockbuster film Mugen Train (2020), the Entertainment District Arc (2021), the Swordsmith Village Arc (2023), and the current Hashira Training Arc (May–June 2024). The next chapter, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, will be adapted into a three-part theatrical film, picking up where the Hashira Training Arc ends.
