— The Expo runs for about six months. Any tips on the best way to enjoy the pavilion?

Momoi: The life-size Gundam is placed in a spot where the sunset looks stunning. It looks different in the morning, afternoon, evening, and at night. I really hope visitors will come back at different times to see all its expressions.

— With one in three people actively supporting their favorite characters or idols, what’s important for keeping Gundam fans engaged?

Momoi: I think merchandise is no longer just something you buy—it’s become a tool for emotional connection and self-expression. That makes us very happy. We hope fans treat Gundam products with care and affection. That’s incredibly meaningful to us.

Our company develops mid-term strategies every three years. Up to this year, our theme has been “Connect with Fans”. We’ve decided to carry this slogan forward into the next three years as well, because fan connection remains at the heart of what we do.

◆ Reflecting on the Journey to the Expo

— Looking back on the journey since announcing the pavilion, how do you feel now?

Momoi: When we first announced our participation in the Osaka Expo, we did face opposition. Some questioned whether a story rooted in war was appropriate for the Expo. But we worked right up until the last moment to craft content that uses Gundam to inspire people around the world to think about the future.

I believe we’ve created a pavilion that aligns with the Expo’s theme while still conveying the true appeal of Gundam. Based on the reactions from fans who have visited, I think we’ve succeeded.
