The story and preview images for Episode 6 of The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei have been released. The episode will air on Japanese TV from 1:30 AM JST on May 13, and will be available on various international platforms shortly thereafter.

Episode 6 Story

The Forbidden Casket

A man in a military uniform roams the streets at night, carrying a casket filled with mononoke. It is said that anyone who sees him is captured and sealed inside the casket, becoming one of the mononoke. As eerie rumors of this supernatural phenomenon spread, Kanna Kusakabe visits the prep room of the old school library and runs into Reijiro Enokizu, who is asking Akihiko Chuzenji for a favor. Enticed by the promise of cake, Kanna ends up joining them on a trip to a jazz bar in Aoyama. Waiting for them there is Reijiro’s older brother, Soichiro Enokizu. Soichiro requests Chuzenji to investigate someone working under him. A few days later, on her way back from an errand in Aoyama, Kanna encounters the very man with the ominous casket.

About Chuzenji-sensei

Set in postwar Tokyo in 1948, the anime follows high school student Kanna Kusakabe, who has just advanced to the second year of the new school system. She meets Akihiko Chuzenji, a newly appointed language teacher, and finds herself facing strange phenomena lurking within daily life.

The story is based on a manga spin-off by Aki Shimizu, depicting Chuzenji’s early years as a teacher. The character of Chuzenji is known as “Kyogokudo” in the original Hyakki Yako novels, which have sold over 10 million copies.

Produced by 100studio, the anime features Kaori Maeda as Kanna Kusakabe and Katsuyuki Konishi as Chuzenji. Additional cast members include Shinnosuke Tachibana, Shuya Nishiji, and Takanori Hoshino.
