The story and preview images for Episode 2 of The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei have been released. The episode will air on Japanese TV from 1:30 AM JST on April 15, and will be available on various international platforms shortly thereafter.

Episode 2 Story

Red Paper, Blue Paper

After being roped into becoming a ghost detective at the whim of Akihiko Chuzenji, Kanna Kusakabe finds herself inundated with supernatural consultation requests. One day, she comes across a school legend known as “Red Paper, Blue Paper,” one of the institution’s Seven Wonders. According to Chuzenji, if someone asks, “Would you like red paper or blue paper? (JP: 赤い紙、青い紙)” and you answer “red,” your body will be soaked in blood. If you answer “blue,” all your blood will be drained.

While rumors swirl, a disturbing incident occurs— a male student vanishes from the boys’ bathroom in the old school building, leaving behind a trail of blood. Is this truly the work of a supernatural entity? As Kanna investigates, she encounters a mysterious and handsome young man wearing an eye patch—Reijiro Enokizu.

About Chuzenji-sensei

Set in postwar Tokyo in 1948, the anime follows high school student Kanna Kusakabe, who has just advanced to the second year of the new school system. She meets Akihiko Chuzenji, a newly appointed language teacher, and finds herself facing strange phenomena lurking within daily life.

The story is based on a manga spin-off by Aki Shimizu, depicting Chuzenji’s early years as a teacher. The character of Chuzenji is known as “Kyogokudo” in the original Hyakki Yako novels, which have sold over 10 million copies.

Produced by 100studio, the anime features Kaori Maeda as Kanna Kusakabe and Katsuyuki Konishi as Chuzenji. Additional cast members include Shinnosuke Tachibana, Shuya Nishiji, and Takanori Hoshino.
