Chuzenji-sensei’s Origins Revealed in New Anime Trailer with Fresh Character Voices
A new trailer has been released for the upcoming TV anime The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei: He Just Solves All the Mysteries., a prequel to Natsuhiko Kyogoku’s renowned Hyakki Yako series. The trailer reveals protagonist Kanna Kusakabe getting drawn into a series of eerie incidents, including an encounter with the ghost of the school library.

At the center of these mysteries stands the stern-faced Japanese language teacher Akihiko Chuzenji, voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi, who delivers the anime’s iconic line:
“There’s nothing mysterious in this world.”
This new trailer also unveils the voices of several key characters for the first time, including Chuzenji’s older sister Atsuko (Ai Furihata), his younger sister Chizuko (Ai Kayano), and the eccentric Soichiro Enokizu (Mitsuru Miyamoto). Their presence adds depth and intrigue to the supernatural school setting.

About Chuzenji-sensei
Set in postwar Tokyo in 1948, the anime follows high school student Kanna Kusakabe, who has just advanced to the second year of the new school system. She meets Akihiko Chuzenji, a newly appointed language teacher, and finds herself facing strange phenomena lurking within daily life.
The story is based on a manga spin-off by Aki Shimizu, depicting Chuzenji’s early years as a teacher. The character of Chuzenji is known as “Kyogokudo” in the original Hyakki Yako novels, which have sold over 10 million copies.
Produced by 100studio, the anime features Kaori Maeda as Kanna Kusakabe and Katsuyuki Konishi as Chuzenji. Additional cast members include Shinnosuke Tachibana, Shuya Nishiji, and Takanori Hoshino.
