The original xxxHOLiC series began in 2003 in Young Magazine and has sold over 14.5 million copies. The manga garnered attention for its unique narrative approach, unfolding in parallel with CLAMP’s Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle. The series was renamed xxxHOLiC: Rō in 2009 and concluded in 2011. In 2013, it returned as the new series xxxHOLiC: Rei.

xxxHOLiC has since expanded into various media formats, including TV anime and theatrical films. A live-action drama aired on WOWOW in 2013, followed by a live-action movie adaptation in 2022. A stage play adaptation is also set for January 2025.
