On April 15, Sanrio revealed the first round of results for the 2025 Sanrio Character Ranking, marking the 40th anniversary of the iconic popularity poll. The initial ranking is based on web and in-store votes collected between April 10 at 11:00 AM and April 13 at 11:59 PM (JST). Final results will be announced on June 29 at Pacifico Yokohama.

Last year’s 4th-place finisher Pompompurin has made a strong return to the top, securing first place in the initial results. Following closely are Cinnamoroll, Pochacco, Kuromi, and Hello Kitty.

Notably, My Melody and Little Twin Stars, both celebrating their 50th anniversaries this year, have made it into the top 10. In just its second appearance, Hanamaru Obake, which placed 14th last year, has surged to 8th.

SANRIO FES 2025 to Be Held Over Two Days for the First Time

Sanrio has also announced that “SANRIO FES 2025” will be held as a two-day event for the first time, taking place on June 28 and 29. A special website for the festival has also been launched, featuring details about commemorative goods, stage programs, and more.
