Sanrio has officially launched voting for the 2025 Sanrio Character Ranking on April 10, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the beloved fan-voting event. This year features 90 Sanrio characters, along with a Partner Category where 37 characters pair with companies or local governments.

Originally launched in 1986 through Ichigo Shimbun, the event has become a fan tradition, ranking Sanrio characters based on public votes.

Special Awards and Games for the 40th Year

To commemorate this milestone, Sanrio has introduced:

“Jump-Up! Award”: Given to characters who significantly rise in the rankings.

“40th Anniversary Award”: Awarded to the character ranked 40th.

Online Games: Two interactive games on the voting website allow fans to earn voting tickets, including the Jump-Up! Love Power Game.

There are multiple ways to cast your vote between April 10 and May 25, including:

Sanrio Shops & Online Store: Purchases over ¥1,100 allow additional votes.
Ichigo Shimbun Voting Cards: Up to 5 characters per card.

Key Dates

First Result Preview (Top 10): April 15
Mid-Term Results (Top 20): May 13
Final Results: June 29 during SANRIO FES 2025 in Yokohama
Partner Category results will be announced on the same day.
