The story and preview images for Episode 2 of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman (JP: 片田舎のおっさん、剣聖になる, Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru) have been released. This episode is scheduled to air in Japan on the TV Asahi network group starting April 12 at 11:30 PM (JST). Outside of Japan, the series will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

Episode 2 Story

“The Old Man from the Countryside Is Stunned by a Mage”

Allucia Citrus reflects on how she met Beryl Gardinant and everything that led up to the present. Her unwavering feelings dating back to her childhood—and the urgent reason she must recruit Beryl as her mentor—are revealed.

Meanwhile, Beryl, while strolling through town with Curuni Crueciel, unexpectedly runs into his former disciple, Ficelle Harbeller. He’s astonished by Ficelle’s glimpses of magical prowess, but soon after, an encounter with another mage leaves him even more dumbfounded.

The anime is based on the light novel written by Shigeru Sagazaki and illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. Along with the manga adaptation by Kazuki Sato, the series has surpassed a total of 7 million copies in circulation.
