Honda Motor Co., Ltd. held a press event for the "Honda Koraidon Project" on the 7th in Tokyo, unveiling the "Honda Koraidon," a futuristic mobility vehicle modeled after the legendary Pokémon Koraidon from the game Pokémon Scarlet. Developed under the supervision of The Pokémon Company, this nearly life-sized creation is on display at Honda Welcome Plaza Aoyama until the 9th.

The Honda Koraidon Project was inspired by Toyota Engineering Society’s 2024 creation of "Toyota Miraidon," which carried the message, "Adults’ passion makes children's dreams come true." Receiving that spirit of craftsmanship, Honda set out to create a Koraidon that reflected Honda’s unique identity and expertise.

A Team Fueled by Passion and Honda’s Engineering Excellence

The project team consisted of about 40 passionate volunteers from Honda’s motorcycle, power products, and advanced technology research divisions. Operating under the slogan, "Honda’s passion makes children's dreams come true," they applied Honda’s renowned design philosophy, simulation technology, and cutting-edge balance control technology to bring Koraidon to life as a futuristic mobility concept.

A Pokémon Brought to Life with Precision and Innovation

The "Honda Koraidon" is a fusion of Honda’s engineering expertise and The Pokémon Company’s creative supervision. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the design faithfully recreates Koraidon's weight, size, and structure in nearly life-sized form.

Looking ahead, Honda aims to implement its proprietary balance control technology to enable four-legged walking and self-balancing on two wheels—something not even seen in the game. This technology builds upon Honda’s Riding Assist, first showcased at CES 2017, which applied humanoid robot balance control research, including advancements from ASIMO. The goal is to integrate this technology to replicate Koraidon's "Sprint Mode" (しっそうけいたい) in real-world mobility.

About Koraidon

Koraidon is a legendary Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Scarlet (2022). It is the protagonist’s trusted companion, evolving throughout the journey and transforming based on the situation. It can walk on all fours (Limited Build Mode), sprint with powerful limbs (Sprint Mode), swim at high speeds (Aquatic Mode), and soar through the skies (Glide Mode). As the story progresses, Koraidon regains its abilities, allowing the player to explore diverse terrains.

The Evolution of "Honda Koraidon" as a Mobility Concept

Sprint Mode will allow riders to mount and experience self-balancing mobility.
