The Inspiration Behind Honda Koraidon
Since the release of Pokémon Scarlet (2022), many fans have dreamed of riding Koraidon, which transforms into various forms for swift travel. Among those fans were Honda engineers, who asked themselves:
"With Honda’s technology, can we bring Koraidon into the real world as a mobility device?"
Driven by passion and innovation, a team of 40 engineers from Honda’s Motorcycle & Power Products division and Advanced Technology Research Institute embarked on this ambitious project.
The Honda Koraidon Vision
The goal was to create a fully functional Koraidon mobility model, replicating its "Sprint Form" from the game. Key features include:
Life-size scale & weight matching the in-game Koraidon
Self-balancing technology for stability in its Sprint Form
Movable head, limbs, and expressive features
A fully rideable experience using Honda’s mobility expertise
To achieve this, the team incorporated Honda’s advanced balance control technology—originally used in the Honda Riding Assist system—and cutting-edge simulation and design methodologies from Honda’s motorcycle division.
Public Exhibition & Toyota’s Influence
This initiative follows Toyota’s 2024 "Toyota Miraidon Project", which aimed to inspire children through real-world Pokémon creations. Motivated by this, Honda engineers set out to develop a uniquely "Honda-style" Koraidon, resulting in the Honda Koraidon Project.
🗓️ Public Display Dates: March 7–9, 2025
