New 'Haikyuu!!' Anime Announced: 'VS The Little Giant' Movie & 'Where the Monsters Go' Short

The beloved Haikyuu!! anime series is expanding with two new productions. The first is the upcoming theatrical film, Haikyuu!! VS The Little Giant, directed and written by Susumu Mitsunaka and produced by Production I.G. Additionally, a special short anime, Haikyuu!! Where the Monsters Go, will be made and broadcast on television.

ollowing the release of Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle in February 2024, the next installment, Haikyuu!! VS The Little Giant, will continue the story of Karasuno High as they advance through the Miyagi Prefecture qualifiers and into the Spring Interhigh tournament’s third round.

Shoyo Hinata and his team now face Komedai High, led by Kourai Hoshiumi, a player who shares the legendary nickname "The Little Giant"—the same title as Hinata’s idol. This highly anticipated battle between two small but powerful players will be the central focus of the film.

Another thrilling match is set to unfold in the short anime special, Haikyuu!! The Place Where the Monsters Go (JP: ハイキュー!! バケモノたちの行くところ, Bakemono Tachi no Iku Tokoro), which will depict the clash between Fukurodani Academy and Mujinazaka High during the Spring Interhigh tournament.

This special will feature Kotaro Bokuto, the powerhouse ace of Fukurodani, and Wakatsu Kiryu, Mujinazaka’s formidable captain, in a match filled with relentless attacks and unbreakable spirit.

Both projects were revealed at the "Haikyuu!! 10th Event – NEXT STEP", where a crowd of 10,000 fans erupted in cheers upon hearing the news.

Fans were also treated to a Super Teaser PV, showcasing the electrifying rivalry between Hinata and Hoshiumi, and a Super Teaser Visual featuring Hinata soaring in his iconic No. 10 jersey, surrounded by his past rivals, symbolizing his relentless ascent toward greatness.
