Athrun Zala Strikes Best Friend, Remarks "Aren't You Too Clueless About Social Media?" Special Video Released

New details have been revealed for "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," the first completely new film in the "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" series in about 20 years, set to premiere on January 26. As part of the build-up to the film's finale, a special movie featuring Kira and Athrun has been released for a campaign encouraging viewers to post their reactions.

The video cleverly uses a scene where Kira and Athrun argue to explain the campaign. In it, Athrun confronts Kira saying, "Kira, aren't you too clueless about social media?" He adds, "In this era, using social media can let us hear what everyone has to say, right?"

The "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" series, which aired 50 episodes from October 2002, was the first Gundam TV series produced in the 21st century. It portrays the conflict between genetically engineered humans (Coordinators) and natural humans (Naturals), divided between the military organizations ZAFT and the Earth Alliance. The series traces the protagonist Kira Yamato's struggles and growth amidst the war. The series not only retained its existing fan base but also captured a significant female audience, achieving a peak viewership rating of 8.0%. It also sparked a second Gundam model (Gunpla) boom among elementary school students, establishing itself as a pioneering "new generation Gundam series." The sequel, "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY," broadcast from October 2004, surpassed the original with a peak viewership of 8.2%, and the series' total package sales exceeded an impressive four million units. This popular series has transcended the boundaries of television anime with its music and events, sweeping across Japan. The new film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM" continues the story as a sequel to "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY," unfolding a new narrative for Kira, Athrun, Shin, and others in a world still embroiled in conflict.
