Theatrical Release of "Gundam SEED" Surpasses 4.4 Billion Yen; New Scene Cuts Featuring Shin and Athrun in MS Combat Released

The anime movie "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," a completely new work in the "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" series after nearly 20 years, was released on January 26th. It has achieved an impressive box office revenue, drawing 2,664,566 attendees and earning 4.474 billion yen within 87 days of its release.

Additionally, eight new scene cuts have been released, featuring characters like Kira, Lacus, Shin, and Orphe in the midst of battle. New shots of Shura and Athrun in combat, as well as dynamic scenes between mobile suits such as the Infinite Justice Gundam Ni and Black Knights Squad Shiva, and the Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam and Black Knights Squad Karla are also available for fans to see.

The "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" series, which began airing in October 2002 for a total of 50 episodes, was the first Gundam TV series produced in the 21st century. The story revolves around humanity divided into genetically modified humans (Coordinators) and natural humans (Naturals), who clash in battles between the military organizations ZAFT and the Earth Alliance. It depicts the struggles and growth of Kira Yamato, a Coordinator who is the protagonist.

It also sparked a second Gunpla boom among elementary school students, establishing it as a new generation of the Gundam series. Following this, the sequel "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY" was broadcast from October 2004, surpassing the previous series with a highest viewership of 8.2%. The series has sold over 4 million packages in total and has become a popular franchise, extending beyond television to music and events.

The story of "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," the completely new movie in the series, continues as a sequel to "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY," unfolding new stories of Kira, Athrun, Shin, and others in a world still ravaged by conflict.
