The digital release (purchase/rental) of Disney’s hit animated film Moana 2 begins today (February 14). The film premiered in theaters last December, earning 5 billion yen with 3.78 million admissions as of February 2, 2025. To celebrate the release, the first eight minutes of the movie, from the opening sequence to the scene featuring "I Am Home", have been made available for free on YouTube.

A New Adventure Three Years After the Original

Moana 2 is set three years after the events of Moana (2017). Now 19 years old, Moana has become the one-in-a-millennium Wayfinder, connecting all the seas. To protect her beloved island and the people she holds dear, she embarks on a perilous journey—one from which she may never return.

The film premiered in the U.S. in November 2024 and broke records with the highest opening box office in cinematic history. It has already surpassed $1 billion in global revenue, making it the fourth highest-grossing Disney animated film after Frozen, Zootopia, and Frozen 2.
