On February 8, Yuji Horii, the creator of the Dragon Quest series, appeared on the YouTube show “Yuubo & Mashirito’s KosoKoso Broadcasting” to share a brief update on the progress of the highly anticipated game, ‘Dragon Quest XII’.

What We Know So Far About Dragon Quest XII

The Dragon Quest series, known for its heroic quests against dark lords, has been a defining RPG franchise in Japan since the release of the original Dragon Quest (1986), developed by Chunsoft and published by Enix.

✔️ Revamped command battle system – Familiar yet fresh for long-time players

During the 2021 reveal, Horii teased:
“This time, the game has a darker feel—a Dragon Quest for adults. We’ve completely revamped the command battle system, but it will still feel intuitive to longtime fans.”

New Development Update – ‘We’re Working Hard on DQXII’

While Horii couldn’t share too many details in this latest update, he did confirm:
🎮 “There are still a lot of things I can’t talk about yet… But for now, I can say that we’re working hard on Dragon Quest XII and the remake of Dragon Quest I & II.”
🎮 “We might be able to start sharing new details bit by bit soon.”

With years of anticipation since its announcement, fans are eagerly awaiting new gameplay footage and release details for Dragon Quest XII.
