Beginning its serialization in October 2012 in "Monthly Afternoon," "Land of the Lustrous" is set in a distant future on a planet once inhabited by humans. It features an action fantasy narrative where 28 gemstone-based beings battle moon dwellers intent on turning them into ornaments. The series gained popularity due to its unique world-building, the allure of its beautifully depicted gem characters, and its enveloping mystery, ranking 10th in the "This Manga is Amazing! 2014" for men's category and spawning a popular TV anime adaptation in 2017. To celebrate its conclusion, a free episode campaign (excluding the final episode) is currently running on the manga app "Comic DAYS" until the 29th. The final, 13th volume of the comics is expected to be released this fall.
