When Ashito was promoted to the A team in Volume 11, the opponents he would face—Kashiwa, Tokyo Verdy, Funabashi, Aomori, and eventually Barcelona—were already planned out (though I debated whether to include the Ganon Osaka match). I am relieved that I’ve been able to depict Ashito’s growth and bring this story to its conclusion."

He added, "Ending with Volume 40 feels like a clean, satisfying number. I’ll give my all to the final two volumes, so I hope you’ll see this journey through to the end. The fact that Ao Ashi has grown into something so significant is all thanks to you, the readers."
