On April 22, Netflix announced that it will begin the worldwide exclusive streaming of the anime series "Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf" starting May 23. This series is a completely new anime based on Baku Yumemakura's novel "Garouden," featuring Jūzō Fujimaki, a rival of the original protagonist Bunshichi Tanba.

Jūzō Fujimaki, a wanderer in the northern lands escaping his past, is coerced into participating in an illicit tournament, where he faces off against formidable martial artists. Utilizing the highly esteemed martial art of Takemiya-ryu, Fujimaki attracts powerful foes while being pursued by a detective sworn to vengeance. Confronting his dark past and inner demons, Fujimaki engages in battles with rival fighters. Who will prove to be the strongest warrior in the world?

Ryota Takeuchi voices the protagonist Jūzō Fujimaki, alongside a stellar cast including Tetsu Inada, Shunsuke Takeuchi, Rintarou Nishi, Tetsu Inada, Aya Endo, Ryota Suzuki, Hideyuki Umezu, Junya Enoki, Yoshimasa Hosoya, Junichi Suwabe, Kenjiro Tsuda, Shiro Saito, Maki Izawa, Yume Miyamoto, and Yuko Kaida. The series is directed by Atsushi Ikariya, known for "ID: INVADED" and "Rust-Eater Bisco," with animation production by NAZ, the studio behind "Good Night World" and "Thermae Romae Novae."

To bring intensity and realism to the underground tournament's action scenes, a range of martial arts including boxing, karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and sumo are showcased. This is achieved by capturing the movements of real fighters and translating them into animation.

The action sequences feature renowned fighters such as Takeru, Kouki, Roberto Satoshi de Souza (Bonsai Jiujitsu), Murilo Takeshi de Souza (Bonsai Jiujitsu), Reiko Tsuruya (THE BLACKBELT JAPAN), Takeru Uchida (THE BLACKBELT JAPAN), Shimon Kagiyama (quip), and Fumi Aizawa (quip), making for some of the finest cel animation powered by intense action.
