New ALDNOAH.ZERO Anime and Compilation Film Announced

The iconic original mecha anime ALDNOAH.ZERO is making its return to theaters with ALDNOAH.ZERO (Re+), combining a compilation of the TV series with a brand-new anime, Rain Fragment. This special theatrical release will be screened for a limited time starting February 28, 2025. A teaser CM featuring footage from Rain Fragment has also been released alongside the list of participating theaters.

A Beloved Mecha Drama Returns

Directed by Ei Aoki and featuring a story concept by Gen Urobuchi with character designs by Takako Shimura, the original ALDNOAH.ZERO aired from 2014 to 2015. It captivated audiences with its intense depiction of war between Earth and Mars and its intricate human drama.

Synopsis

In the year 2014, 15 years after a war erupted between Earth and Mars, the Martian Princess Asseylum Vers Allusia visits Earth as part of a peace negotiation. However, her goodwill mission is derailed by a terrorist attack, leaving her fate unknown. This incident reignites the conflict between Earth and Mars.

High school student Inaho Kaizuka, with his calm demeanor and tactical genius, leads his comrades in fending off the Martian Kataphrakts. Meanwhile, Slaine Troyard, a young Earth-born servant of the Martian knights, discovers the truth behind the attack on Asseylum and takes decisive action.

Caught in the throes of war, Asseylum wishes for peace, Inaho fights to protect his friends, and Slaine pledges loyalty to Asseylum. Their intertwined fates drive the escalating conflict, culminating in a confrontation nine months after the war's end, where Inaho and Slaine face each other again.
