"Oshi no Ko" began serialization in April 2020 in "Weekly Young Jump" (Shueisha), depicting the world of entertainment. The protagonist, Goro, a gynecologist, meets his favorite idol, Ai Hoshino, but dies and reincarnates as her child following an incident. This leads him to pursue a career in the same entertainment industry.

The original manga, created by Aka Akasaka known for "Kaguya-sama: Love Is War," has won multiple awards including first place in the Comics category of the "Next Manga Award 2021," and has surpassed 16.5 million copies in circulation.

The TV anime aired from April to June 2023, and its second season, starting in July, will focus on the 2.5-dimensional stage play "Tokyo Blade," featuring characters such as Aqua, Kana Arima, and Akane Kurokawa.

The series' popularity extends beyond manga and anime. The anime's opening theme "Idol" by YOASOBI topped the latest "Oricon Weekly Digital Single (Single Track) Ranking" and "Oricon Weekly Streaming Ranking" as of June 28, 2023, achieving a record 26,011,303 plays in a week and becoming the first in Oricon history to exceed 20 million plays for ten consecutive weeks, sparking a social phenomenon. Furthermore, a live-action adaptation is set for this winter, with a drama series to be exclusively streamed worldwide on Amazon Prime Video and a film to be released in theaters by Toei.
