Pokémon Meets Traditional Craft! "Pokémon x Craft Exhibition: Discovery of Beauty and Skill" Unveils New Works in Tokyo (Nov. 1, 2024 - Feb. 2, 2025)

The Tokyo venue of the exhibition "Pokémon x Craft Exhibition: Discovery of Beauty and Skill," which blends Pokémon with Japanese crafts, will open at Azabudai Hills Gallery on November 1. Actor Kanata Hongo, known for his love of Pokémon, attended the opening ceremony held on October 30, where he shared his thoughts on the exhibition and the works he would like to create.

Hongo commented, "I grew up with Pokémon since I was a child. I also love viewing crafts when traveling, so I enjoyed this exhibition very much." He also expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I want to challenge myself to create a Pokémon work using mother-of-pearl." He added, "The experience was beyond my imagination. I hope everyone comes to see it."

Among the newly unveiled works at the Tokyo venue are an impressive two-meter-long Mewtwo created by Yasuichiro Yoshida, a Banette with beautiful vine-and-ivy patterns crafted by Kasumi Ueba, and a large-scale piece featuring 576 Pikachu tiles by Takuro Kuwata. These new works are expected to be the main highlights of the Tokyo exhibition.

The exhibition period is divided into two parts: the first half runs until December 25, 2024, and the second half until February 2, 2025, with some of the exhibits being replaced. Details about the exhibition are available on the official website.
