Studio Pierrot, known for its work on iconic series like Naruto Partners with Korea's RDCH for Webtoon Anime Adaptations
Studio Pierrot, known for its work on iconic series like Naruto, Osomatsu-san, and Yu Yu Hakusho, announced on October 30 a new partnership with South Korean animation studio Red Dog Culture House (RDCH). Formalized in August, the collaboration aims to produce and co-finance animation projects for the global market.
Over the next three years, Pierrot and RDCH will work under a production committee based in Japan to create and distribute high-quality anime to worldwide audiences. This partnership’s first project is an anime adaptation of the popular webtoon Latna Saga: The Survival Sword King (original story by Lim Kyung-bae, written by Kwon Soon-kyu, Studio K-hit), also known in Japan as Isekai Kenou Seizonki. Production is slated to start later this year.
In addition to Latna Saga, Pierrot and RDCH have plans for future projects, including anime adaptations of popular Japanese manga or original Korean webtoons.
RDCH CEO Bae Ki Young expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting that it presents a valuable opportunity for RDCH to showcase their expertise. “We are honored to begin this partnership with Latna Saga, an original IP from RDCH,” said Bae.
Pierrot President Kazunori Ueda also commented, “When we first met the RDCH team, we were impressed not only by the quality of their work but also by the character of CEO Bae and his team. We are determined to make Isekai Kenou an exceptional anime that fans worldwide can enjoy.”
Founded in 1979, Studio Pierrot is a renowned independent studio known for long-running TV anime and films. Their portfolio includes Magical Angel Creamy Mami, Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, BLEACH, Kingdom, and Tokyo Ghoul. Beyond animation, Pierrot also engages in merchandise and licensing to broaden the reach of its characters.
RDCH, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, has worked on prominent global projects such as Netflix’s Love, Death + Robots, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, Dragon Age: Absolution, and Bilibili’s Heaven Official’s Blessing. RDCH is currently focused on developing anime based on web novels and webtoons, with an impressive track record in high-quality animation.
