A Global Legacy of Dark Fantasy

Originally serialized in Monthly Animal House in 1989 and later moved to Young Animal, Berserk is a monumental dark fantasy series with over 55 million copies sold. The series follows the journey of Guts, a warrior battling monstrous beings in a brutal, magic-filled world, exploring themes of struggle, revenge, and resilience. The story has been adapted into a 1997-98 television anime, a film trilogy from 2012-2013, and a 2016-2017 anime series.

Despite its success, the series faced an unexpected hiatus following Miura's sudden passing in May 2021 due to an aortic dissection. After the release of Chapter 364 in September 2021, Berserk was put on hold until December of that year, when volume 41 was published. In June 2022, under the direction of Miura’s close friend Kouji Mori and with art by Studio Gaga—Miura’s dedicated team—the series resumed publication starting from Chapter 365, with volume 42 now available.
