[CAUTION] Berserk Publisher Warns of Illegal Anime Production Announcements: No Authorization Granted
On the 11th, Hakusensha issued a warning regarding illegal websites promoting the animation production of the popular manga Berserk.
In a formal statement, Hakusensha clarified, “Announcements of Berserk anime production on the following X account (https://x.com/studio_eclypse) and website (https://studio-eclypse.com) have not been authorized by the copyright holder, Kentaro Miura (Studio Gaga),” denying any involvement in the production.
The statement further emphasized that “the videos used are unauthorized,” marking the sites as illegal and urging caution.
Berserk began serialization in Monthly Animal House in 1989 and later moved to Young Animal, with over 55 million copies of the series sold. The dark fantasy story follows the protagonist Guts as he battles monstrous creatures in a world of swords, magic, and demons. The manga has been adapted into a TV anime (1997-98), a three-part movie (2012-13), and a second TV anime series (2016-17).
The manga has been published in 20 countries, captivating readers worldwide. The original creator, Kentaro Miura, passed away in May 2021 at the age of 54 from acute aortic dissection. After a hiatus, Berserk resumed serialization in June 2022 under the supervision of Miura’s close friend, manga artist Kouji Mori, with Studio Gaga, staffed by those who learned from Miura, continuing the story from chapter 365.
