A special PV commemorating the 20th anniversary of the anime BLEACH has been released, generating massive reactions. In addition, a REMIX CD of the historic opening and ending themes has been announced, and a creditless ending movie set to the song "MONOCHROME" by Suisou has also been unveiled.
The special PV compiles iconic scenes that have deeply resonated with fans, recreated with the latest animation. The video concept revolves around "the figure of Ichigo Kurosaki" as seen through the eyes of Rukia, who led Ichigo to become a substitute Soul Reaper, and other characters. It portrays Ichigo’s journey leading to the "Thousand-Year Blood War" arc. Fans online have responded with comments such as, "It's insane to see these classic scenes redone with the current animation style," "Thank you so much! I love this scene," and "BLEACH always shows us what true style is."
BLEACH was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2001 to 2016 and follows the story of Ichigo Kurosaki, who gains the powers of a Soul Reaper after meeting Rukia Kuchiki. With over 130 million copies of the manga in circulation, BLEACH has expanded into games and a live-action film in 2018 starring Sota Fukushi, in addition to the TV anime that aired from 2004 to 2012. The "Thousand-Year Blood War" arc, set to cover the final parts of the manga, marked the anime’s return after a 10-year hiatus. The first cour aired from October to December 2022, with the second cour airing from July to September 2023.
