ano's 'Ranma 1/2' Opening Song Titled "Iinazukkyun" - Created by the Team Behind "Chu, Tayosei." New Promotional Photos Also Released
Additional information has been revealed about the opening theme song of the brand-new TV anime Ranma 1/2 (set to premiere on October 5), sung by ano. The song has been officially titled "Iinazukkyun."
The new song was created by the same team behind ano's hit track "Chu, Tayosei." The lyrics were written by ano and Shuichi Manabe, with composition by former Soutaiseiriron member Shuichi Manabe, and the arrangement was handled by TAKU INOUE, who has worked on many of ano's songs.
The meaning of "Iinazukkyun" is somewhat tricky to interpret. It’s a coined word that combines the Japanese term for "fiancé" (許嫁) with "zukkyun," an onomatopoeia used in Japan to express the feeling of being struck by love. The title likely reflects the relationship between Ranma and Akane, who are engaged through an arrangement made by their parents.
"Chu, Tayosei." became explosively popular, especially on social media, when it was featured as the episode ending theme for the anime Chainsaw Man. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the new song.
Along with this announcement, the CD cover art, release information, and new promotional photos of ano were unveiled. The limited-edition version of ano's new single "Iinazukkyun," set to release on October 9, will feature a special cover illustrated specifically for the Ranma 1/2 anime.
Ranma 1/2 follows the daily life of Ranma Saotome, a high school student who turns into a girl when splashed with water, and his fiancée, Akane Tendo, in a martial arts romantic comedy that involves those around them. The original TV anime aired from 1989 to 1992, followed by movie adaptations and OVAs. In 2011, a live-action drama adaptation was made, starring Yui Aragaki as Akane.
