Comments from Cho (voice of Genma Saotome), Koichi Yamadera (voice of Ryoga Hibiki), Rei Sakuma (voice of Shampoo), and Kenichi Ogata (narrator) have been released ahead of the brand-new Ranma 1/2 TV anime, which will begin airing on October 5. Character visuals were also revealed alongside the comments.

Ranma 1/2 is a martial arts romantic comedy that follows the daily lives of high school student Ranma Saotome, who turns into a girl when splashed with water, and his fiancée, Akane Tendo, along with their chaotic interactions. The original TV anime aired from 1989 to 1992, followed by theatrical films and OVAs. In 2011, a live-action drama starring Yui Aragaki as Akane was also produced.

Ranma 1/2 is still incredibly fun to read today! Rumiko-sensei truly is a genius! A new anime sounds awesome. Wait, I’m playing Ryoga again? Is this for real and not a prank? I’m happy, but can I pull it off? I’m confident about P-Chan and Guide… What? Kappei and the others are returning too? Alright then, if I get to mess around with those guys again, I’m in!! I’ll work hard so I don’t get lost as a voice actor～!

Being reunited with Shampoo feels like opening a jack-in-the-box—it’s such a surprise! It also feels strange, like I’m meeting the old me from the previous series. This time, I want to not only capture Shampoo’s cuteness but also express all aspects of her character and faithfully recreate the world that Takahashi-sensei has crafted. I hope that everyone who’s been with us since the previous series and everyone who’s encountering Ranma 1/2 for the first time can laugh together across generations… I’d be overjoyed!

Back in the day, Ranma used to kick me around a lot, making me soar through the air, flipping back and forth, or play shogi with Soun and get defeated with a "Bingo!" There was always something going on, but since I’m just narrating this time, I won’t be subjected to that again. Still, I’m allowed to add a bit of humor, so I’m having fun with it.
