The TV anime "Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online II" (GGO) is set to premiere on October 4, 2024, on TOKYO MX and other channels, marking its return six years after the first season aired in April 2018. (The streaming schedule for SVOD services has yet to be determined.)

Based on the novel by Reki Kawahara, "Sword Art Online: Alternative Gun Gale Online" (GGO) is a spin-off of the "Sword Art Online" (SAO) series. Set in the next-generation VRMMO game "Gun Gale Online," which Kirito and Sinon encounter in the second season of the SAO TV anime, GGO offers exhilarating gun action entertainment in a virtual reality game space.

The story follows the main character, LLENN, and her rival, Pitohui, in a bullet-ridden battle royale. The first season of the anime, aired in April 2018, was created by the duo of author Keiichi Sigsawa and character designer Kouhaku Kuroboshi. It received high praise not only from SAO fans but also from gun enthusiasts and international anime fans for its detailed depiction of firearms and thrilling battle scenes.
