The TV anime "Skip and Loafer," produced by DMM pictures, an animation label of DMM.com LLC (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Chairman and CEO: Keishi Kameyama), has won the Best Animation Screenplay Award in the animation category at the 29th Shanghai TV Festival "Magnolia Awards," one of China's top three TV awards.

The award ceremony was held on June 28, 2024, at the Lingang Performance Center in Shanghai.

Skip and Loafer began airing on TOKYO MX and other channels in April 2023, receiving high acclaim not only in Japan but also on the Chinese video site BiliBili. In September 2023, it became the first Japanese anime to win the Overseas Anime Award at the 20th China Animation & Comic Golden Dragon Award. The series has also been nominated for "Best Romance" and "Best Slice of Life" at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024, drawing international attention.

In Japan, the original manga won the 47th Kodansha Manga Award in the General category on May 10, 2023. Additionally, it ranked first in Filmarks' "Top Anime of the First Half of 2023."

Director and series composer Kotomi Deai commented, "I feel once again that this work has a universal theme that resonates with many people. This award is a gift to all the staff, voice actors, and the original author, Ms. Misaki Takamatsu, who were involved in the production."

The Shanghai TV Festival "Magnolia Awards," organized by the National Radio and Television Administration and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, began in 1986 and is one of China's top three TV awards, alongside the Flying Apsaras Awards and the Golden Eagle Awards. It honors outstanding works in TV dramas, documentaries, animations, and variety shows, with many entries from both China and abroad. In the animation category, 10 works are nominated from over 100 entries, and two awards are given: "Best Animation" and "Best Animation Screenplay."
