New Footage Reveals an Older Aoteru Misumi

The newly released video begins with a conversation between Aoteru Misumi and Saki Higashimachi, whose words inspired him to pursue an era of peace. It then seamlessly brings together memorable moments from the history depicted in the series, leading up to the fall of Seii.

The video then offers the first look at an older Aoteru Misumi in the upcoming sequel. The footage conveys how Aoteru once again strengthens his resolve as he looks toward his goal of creating an era of lasting peace.

Nippon Sangoku is based on the manga of the same name currently serialized on Shogakukan's MangaONE app and Ura Sunday website. Set in a near future after the collapse of civilization, the story follows a young man who rises to reunify Japan after the country has once again descended into a period of warring states. It chronicles the legend of Aoteru Misumi, who would later become renowned as a brilliant military strategist.

Nippon Sangoku Manga Circulation Doubled After Anime Premiere

When the anime began airing in April 2026, the manga had a cumulative circulation of 1 million copies. In just one month, that figure surpassed 2 million copies.

Amazon MGM Studios also participated in the series as a joint producer. Among new anime series that began streaming on Prime Video in April 2026, Nippon Sangoku ranked No. 1 in domestic viewership based on the number of viewers in Japan during the first month after its streaming debut.

Comment from Original Creator Ikka Matsuki

“I am truly delighted that a sequel to the Nippon Sangoku anime is being produced.

The spark quietly lit in the first series will eventually grow into a flame that scorches the age and profoundly shakes the destinies of its people.

I am eager to see what kind of scenes the history chronicled in the original manga will create when it is given interpretations and forms of expression unique to animation.

As the original creator, I too look forward to seeing where the story goes, this time as one of its viewers.”
