Prime Video Starts Revealing Global Rankings: "Nippon Sangoku" Ranks 10th Globally and 2th Among Non-English Titles

Prime Video announced that it will begin releasing "TOP 10 Prime Original Films and Series"—weekly rankings of its globally viewed original titles—every Thursday on the global Amazon News platform.

The rankings cover exclusive titles streaming on Prime Video and are compiled across four categories: "Global Films," "Global TV Series," "Non-English Films," and "Non-English TV Series." The data is calculated based on viewership numbers from Monday through Sunday each week. Drama series are tallied by the entire series rather than by individual seasons.

In the inaugural rankings, which track data from May 25 to May 31, Japanese content made a powerful statement.

The anime Nippon Sangoku, which Amazon MGM Studios joined as a co-producer and for which Prime Video is handling the world's fastest streaming for new episodes, ranked 10th globally in the TV Series category. Furthermore, it captured the No. 2 spot in the Non-English TV Series category.

The anime is based on the manga of the same name by Ikka Matsuki. Set in a near-future where civilization has collapsed due to nuclear warfare, natural disasters, and political corruption, the story takes place in a Japan split into three warring nations. Aoteru Misumi, once a petty local official, aims for the "reunification of Japan," rising through the ranks using his vast knowledge and eloquent speaking skills. The series depicts the remarkable feats of this genius young man, who would later be hailed as a legendary, brilliant strategist.
