Toilet-bound Hanako-kun Manga Resumes Serialization After 10 Month Hiatus for Creator AidaIro’s Medical Treatment

The Toilet-bound Hanako-kun manga has resumed serialization in the September issue of Monthly GFantasy, released in Japan on August 18. The series had been on hiatus since the issue released in November 2025 while creator AidaIro underwent medical treatment, marking its return after 10 months.

AidaIro Announces the Manga’s Return

AidaIro updated their official X account ahead of the magazine’s release, writing:
“Tomorrow, August 18, is the release date of the September issue of GFantasy. This month’s Hanako kun is... back in serialization. Thank you for your continued support starting this month!”

About Toilet-bound Hanako-kun

Toilet-bound Hanako-kun is currently serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy and has surpassed 10 million copies in circulation across the series.

The school supernatural story follows Hanako kun, the ghost of a boy who is the subject of a school legend, and Nene Yashiro, an occult loving girl who summons Hanako kun in hopes of having her wish granted.

The first season of the television anime aired in 2020, followed by the second season in 2025.

Hiatus Was Announced in October 2025

The hiatus was announced on the series’ official X account in October last year.

The announcement stated:
“Due to creator AidaIro’s medical treatment for an illness, Toilet-bound Hanako-kun will be taking a hiatus for some time beginning with the next issue, the December issue of GFantasy.

“We sincerely apologize to all readers who look forward to the series every month. During the hiatus, we plan to republish past episodes.

“We will announce the resumption of serialization in GFantasy once a decision has been made. We appreciate your continued support of Toilet-bound Hanako-kun.”
