A New Digimon Anime Announced for 2027 as 30th Anniversary Project Begins

A completely new Digimon anime project has been announced, with the series scheduled to air in 2027.

Digimon Celebrates 30 Years

The Digital Monster franchise began with a portable digital pet device released in 1997, followed by a television anime series in 1999.

The Digimon universe features Digital Monsters that continue to evolve within the Digital World. More than 1,000 Digimon have been introduced to date. Stories centered on friendship and personal growth have continued to resonate with fans across generations.

Beginning with Digimon Adventure in 1999, numerous anime installments have been produced over the years. The latest series, DIGIMON BEATBREAK, is currently airing.

Global Digimon Episode Vote Announced

The new anime is being produced to commemorate the franchise’s 30th anniversary in 2027, marking the launch of the Digimon 30th Anniversary Project.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, a global vote will be held to determine the best episodes from four early consecutive television series: Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers, and Digimon Frontier.

Popular episodes ranking highly based on votes from Digimon fans around the world will also air on Fuji TV every Sunday at 9 a.m., beginning October 4.
