Can Iron Wok Jan! Really Air on TV? Main PV Ura Version Reveals Tomokazu Sugita Joining the Cast

The Main PV Ura Version for the TV anime Iron Wok Jan!, which begins airing on July 5 on TV Tokyo and other networks every Sunday at 5:30 p.m., has been released. At the same time, new information was unveiled, including additional cast member Tomokazu Sugita and the key visual.

The Main PV Ura Version features food critic Nichido Otani, who is known as a hidden heroine type figure thanks to his combination of Japan’s greatest divine tongue and the worst personality, personally reviewing Jan. As Jan’s greatest nemesis, Otani presents Jan’s dangerous appeal with some exaggeration. The video offers a very different tone from the previously released Main PV Omote Version, which raised expectations for a fiery cooking battle.

Tomokazu Sugita Joins as Ryuji Bito

Additional cast member Tomokazu Sugita will play Ryuji Bito, the first assassin sent by Otani to challenge Jan and a master of XO sauce. Bito is an eccentric chef who is devoted to Otani and has made large profits in the past by provoking many chefs into high stakes cooking matches.

Sugita shared his excitement, saying, “I have been cast as Ryu of XO sauce, and my excitement is at its peak. I did it!!”

The ending theme song has also been decided as “Naita Akuma” by emunimini.

Key Visual, Collaborations, and Special Program Announced

The newly released key visual brings together chefs who use magical dishes, creating a sense of the heated battles that await them as they face off against Jan.

In addition to streaming information, collaboration projects with Yokohama Chinatown and with the Chojuchu Izakaya Kome to Circus have also been announced.

A commemorative broadcast special titled Iron Wok Ryuji! will air on July 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. across six TV Tokyo network stations. In the program, cooking researcher Ryuji will recreate “that dish” together with Kikunosuke Toya and Koji Yamamoto of Time Machine 3go.

The special will visit famous and popular Chinese restaurants that recreated dishes from the original manga for the anime, while also discussing the appeal of the anime. Inspired by those dishes, Ryuji will introduce recipes that can be easily recreated at home, including seafood style fried rice, stir fried shrimp with XO sauce, and Chaliapin steak.

I was following the original manga in real time back then. At first, I did not believe this anime adaptation was really happening. I was sulking because there was no audition, but then I found out I had been cast as Ryu of XO sauce, and my excitement reached its peak. I did it!!

I am emunimini, and I have been given the opportunity to perform the ending theme for the anime Iron Wok Jan! I am truly honored to have received such a wonderful connection even though I have only just begun my activities.

“Naita Akuma” is a song that focuses on Jan’s devilish competitiveness and confidence, as well as the human weakness hidden beneath his seemingly perfect and invincible appearance, and the fragility that comes from trying to conceal that weakness. I sang each word with care while valuing Jan’s emotions.

Of course, I hope everyone enjoys the anime, but during the ending, I would be happy if viewers listened as though they were lending an ear to Jan’s inner voice. I hope “Naita Akuma” becomes like a dessert that closes out this heated story, serving as a hidden seasoning that enhances the appeal of the work and remains in everyone’s hearts. I sincerely hope this work will be loved by many people.
