The opening theme song, “Mebius,” will be performed by Leo Ieiri. The song’s jacket illustration features protagonist Araki and will be digitally released on June 3 ahead of the anime’s broadcast. Known for her expressive vocals and emotionally resonant music, Ieiri is expected to bring a distinctive atmosphere to the world of Mebius Dust.

The newly released opening footage from Episode 1 shows Araki, Stella, Olga, and their friends participating in what appears to be a flag capture game. However, the setting and rules suggest that it is far from ordinary, raising questions about where the characters are and what exactly they are doing.

Comments were also released from the cast and staff members, including original creator and character designer Hajime Shinagawa, director Taro Iwasaki, and series composer Yoriko Tomita.

Mebius Dust is based on the grand prize winning concept created by Hajime Shinagawa for the “Kids and Game Anime” category of Project ANIMA, a public competition project aimed at producing original anime works representing the 2020s generation.

The anime tells an original story centered on high school students living in Tokyo’s traditional downtown neighborhoods.

“I’m Yuto Takenaka, and I will be voicing Araki, the protagonist of Mebius Dust. This series delivers exciting action through its supernatural battle elements, but what makes it especially compelling is how human and relatable the characters feel. Araki and I share similarities in being shy and carrying feelings of inferiority while seeking recognition from others. I hope viewers will follow the story he creates together with his unique companions.”

“I’m Nene Hieda, the voice of Stella. Ever since I first saw the audition materials, I was fascinated by the setting and world of this series. I’m truly happy to become part of this world as Stella and to share her journey. Since it’s an original anime, I also find myself emotionally moved by every episode during recording sessions. I hope many people will experience the passionate world of Mebius Dust.”

“I’m Haruka Sato, and I play Olga. Olga is an incredibly energetic girl, and during recording sessions, her strength often lifted my own spirits. But there’s much more to her charm than just her energy. She deeply cares for her friends and experiences love as well. I did my best to portray her as a genuine and relatable girl. I hope everyone enjoys Olga’s role in the story and the world of Mebius Dust.”

Leo Ieiri on the Opening Theme “Mebius”
“I think everyone has wondered at least once what it means to truly be yourself. When I was asked to perform the opening theme for Mebius Dust, I was inspired by how Araki confronts himself through his interactions with others. That inspired the lyric, ‘Are you ready to become yourself?’ I believe individuality is not something we are born with, but something we gain and continue refining throughout life. I created this song with that feeling in mind.”

Hajime Shinagawa, Original Creator and Character Designer
“Congratulations on the anime adaptation. Looking back from when the project first won the award until now, many things have changed both in society and in my own life. The fact that a full cour anime has been completed and brought to broadcast by so many professionals already feels like a miracle. I will treasure the happiness of being able to create and enjoy anime and entertainment.”

Director Taro Iwasaki
“My name is Taro Iwasaki, and I am directing Mebius Dust. I hope viewers can feel the spirit of these young characters living in this world, and I hope the story leaves people feeling energized.”

Series Composer Yoriko Tomita
“When I received the offer for this project, I had just become interested in learning more about eastern Tokyo. I visited Katsushika Ward many times, and real buildings and scenery from the area were incorporated into the scripts. Places like Mizumoto, Kanamachi, Yotsugi, Shin Koiwa, and Kosuge all appear in the story. I hope viewers enjoy both the emotional townscapes of Katsushika and the diverse cast of more than 30 characters.”
