Snowball Earth Episode 5 Story & Preview Cuts Released: A New Enemy Approaches

The story and preview images for Episode 5 of the TV anime Snowball Earth (JP: スノウボールアース) have been revealed. This episode will air on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11:30 PM (JST) in Japan, and will later be available on various international streaming platforms.

Episode 5 Story

Welcomed into the Takimura household, Tetsuo meets a young girl named Hagane, who lost her mother just one month ago. She shows Tetsuo "something" crafted in her mother's workshop. Meanwhile, the organization known as the Lantern of E-RDE (Vierde), led by a mysterious man called the Colonel, begins making unsettling moves upon learning of Tetsuo's survival. The shadow of a new enemy quietly draws near to Mishima Mall.

Introduction

"Yukio, I’m going to make a friend."

For shy young Tetsuo,
the only friend he’s ever known is the giant robot Yukio.
Together, they defended humanity as its “saviors,”
standing against galactic monsters that invaded from space.

A decade has passed since their final,
desperate battle for humanity’s survival.

When Tetsuo finally returns to Earth,
he finds a world transformed into a frozen wasteland—
an icebound planet now known as Snowball Earth.

Carrying the promise he once made to Yukio deep in his heart,
Tetsuo takes his first steps into this strange new world.
