The new "Super Mario" animated movie, co-produced by Illumination and Nintendo, is set to be released on April 24, 2026. Nintendo announced this on their official website on the 18th.

In many countries and regions, including the United States, the movie will premiere on April 3, 2026, while in other countries and regions, it is scheduled for a theatrical release in April of the same year.

The new "Super Mario" animated movie will be co-produced by Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination, and Shigeru Miyamoto, Fellow at Nintendo. The film will be directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with a script by Matthew Fogel. Universal Pictures and Nintendo are funding the production of the movie. Universal Pictures will distribute the film worldwide, while Toho-Towa Co., Ltd. will handle distribution in Japan.
