Rokudenashi BLUES Spinoff Manga “Onikazura” to Launch This Summer, Depicting the Long Awaited Clash Between Onizuka and Kasai With Art by Boichi

The spinoff manga Rokudenashi BLUES: Onikazura has been officially announced, marking the return of the iconic delinquent series nearly three decades after its original conclusion. The new series will begin serialization in Grand Jump magazine in the summer of 2026.

Originally created by Masanori Morita, Rokudenashi BLUES concluded in 1997. Now, 29 years later, Morita returns to the world of the series as the original author, while the artwork will be handled by Boichi, known for his work on Dr. STONE as the artist and THE MARSHAL KING. The announcement was made on the 30th, generating strong reactions from longtime fans.

rom Weekly Shonen Jump Classic to Untold Rivalry

Rokudenashi BLUES was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1988 to 1997 and became a defining delinquent manga of its era. The story follows Taison Maeda, an aspiring professional boxer who enrolls at Teiken High School in Kichijoji and faces off against a succession of formidable rivals, blending street fights with themes of youth, friendship, and ambition.

The new spinoff, Rokudenashi BLUES: Onikazura, focuses on events that were never depicted in the original series. Most notably, it will portray the long awaited confrontation between two of the Shitennō, Shibuya no Onizuka and Ikebukuro no Kasai, a rivalry that fans have speculated about for years but never saw fully realized in the main story.

Updates to Be Released via Official Channels

Further details and updates regarding the spinoff will be announced through future issues of Grand Jump as well as the magazine’s official X account.
