Xylo Forbartz is a former Holy Knight Commander who was sentenced to become a Penal Hero after committing the unforgivable sin of killing a Goddess. Despite his criminal status, he possesses exceptional combat prowess and outstanding leadership skills, allowing him to remain calm and decisive even on the front lines of battle. While his fighting style can be rough and ferocious, Xylo is fundamentally incapable of abandoning those in need, revealing a deeply ingrained sense of responsibility and compassion beneath his hardened exterior.

Teoritta

Teoritta is the Sword Goddess who forms a contract with Xylo. She has the power to summon countless blades, including holy swords and cursed swords, wielding them at will. Proud and highly self-assured, Teoritta enjoys being praised and admired, embracing the reverence befitting a Goddess. At the same time, she possesses a distinctly divine flaw: a tendency toward self-sacrificial behavior for the sake of others. Despite her lofty status, she also has a surprisingly tender side, as she especially enjoys having her head gently patted.

Patausche Kivia

Patausche Kivia is the commander of the Thirteenth Holy Knight Order and was originally meant to form a contract with the Goddess Teoritta. A serious and deeply principled holy knight, she possesses a strong sense of justice and unwavering devotion to her duties. However, her rigid nature often makes her stern and uncompromising in both attitude and speech. For the sake of a Goddess, Patausche is prepared to sacrifice not only her own life, but even the lives of heroes themselves, revealing an extreme and absolute form of faith.

Dotta Luzulas

Dotta Luzulas is an extraordinarily notorious thief who has committed over a thousand thefts, earning a reputation as one of the most prolific sneak thieves in history. Driven by impulse, he attempts to steal anything that catches his interest, ranging from a Goddess’s coffin to objects of utterly no value, and he actually possesses the skill to steal virtually anything. Gifted with excellent night vision and a keen sensitivity to presences around him, Dotta nonetheless suffers from extreme cowardice, making his sharp abilities sharply contrasted with his timid nature.

Venetim Leopool

Venetim Leopool serves as the commander of Penal Hero Unit 9004 and is an infamous con artist who once attempted to sell the royal palace as part of an elaborate scam. Highly skilled in rhetoric and deception, he often gives the impression of being competent and calculating at first glance. In reality, however, Venetim is little more than a coward with no real backbone, easily rattled when faced with pressure. He is notorious among the unit for constantly delivering “bad news” in a flustered and apologetic manner.

Norgalle Senridge

Norgalle Senridge is a terrorist who firmly believes himself to be the true king of the United Kingdom, having carried out large-scale attacks against the royal family in pursuit of that conviction. Known by the nickname “Your Majesty,” he carries himself with an arrogant and domineering air. Beneath this overbearing demeanor, however, lies a genuine concern for the well-being of the people. Norgalle possesses exceptional talent in Sacred Sigil Tuning, a highly specialized technique for engraving and adjusting holy seals, setting him apart even among the Penal Heroes.

Tatsuya

Tatsuya is a berserker who has served in the Hero units longer than anyone else. Having been resurrected as a Hero far too many times, he has lost his sense of self and cognitive faculties, leaving him unable to speak. His true identity and past remain completely unknown. Despite this, his close-combat abilities are nothing short of monstrous, allowing him to wield a massive battle axe as effortlessly as if it were a kitchen knife.

Tsav

Tsav is a former elite assassin who was raised within an assassination cult. He possesses near-supernatural sniping skills, capable of feats that border on the impossible. Ironically, during his days as an assassin, Tsav was unable to kill his assigned targets due to growing emotionally attached to them, instead slaughtering unrelated people and turning them into “minced meat” to cover his tracks. Lighthearted, talkative, and fond of gambling, his casual demeanor sharply contrasts with his grim criminal history.

Jayce Partiract

Jayce Partiract is a dragoon who rides a dragon into battle, serving as the aerial combat force of Penal Hero Unit 9004. Highly skilled in spear combat, he is capable both in the air and on the ground. Beyond simply communicating with dragons, Jayce possesses an unusual trait that makes him exceptionally beloved by them. He himself shows interest only in dragons, remaining curt and indifferent toward humans.

Neely

Neely is a female dragon who soars across the battlefield alongside Jayce. She is distinguished by her vivid blue scales and her ability to unleash powerful flames from her mouth. Because Jayce is unusually beloved by dragons, Neely occasionally becomes jealous and visibly irritated by his presence. According to Jayce himself, her slightly shadowed eyes and strong-willed temperament are what make her especially charming.

Rhyno

Rhyno is an eccentric individual who voluntarily enlisted as a Penal Hero, possessing remarkable talent as an artillery specialist. He carries himself with impeccable manners and often speaks like a virtuous and upright gentleman, yet constantly wears a suspicious, knowing smile. His entire body is encased in an uncanny suit of armor engraved with sacred sigils, and his enormous right arm functions as a fully operational cannon.

Frenci Mastibolt

Frenci Mastibolt is the daughter of the Mastibolt family, leaders of the southern Night Ogre clan. She is Xylo’s former fiancée, and although their engagement was officially annulled when he became a Penal Hero, Frenci herself refuses to acknowledge the dissolution. Despite her usually expressionless face, she delivers cutting and merciless remarks with ease, revealing a sharp and uncompromising personality beneath her composed exterior.
