Frieren Season 2 Reveals Hero of the South Footage, Kazuhiko Inoue Cast as Voice Actor Says It Was a Difficult Role
Footage of the Hero of the South from Frieren was revealed as the completion screening event for Season 2 of the TV anime Frieren Beyond Journey's End was held in Tokyo on the 11th. The event was attended by Atsumi Tanezaki, who voices Frieren, Kana Ichinose, who voices Fern, and Chiaki Kobayashi, who voices Stark. In a surprise appearance, Kazuhiko Inoue, newly announced as the voice actor for the Hero of the South, took the stage.

The event was held to commemorate the broadcast of Season 2, which is set to air on the Nippon Television network starting at 11 p.m. on the 16th. Episodes 1 and 2 were screened in the world’s earliest showing. When the latest promotional video was unveiled, it featured the Hero of the South, once praised as the strongest warrior of humanity who fought against the Demon King’s army. The PV also revealed the character voice of this figure, who leaves a major impact on the story.

Kazuhiko Inoue, who voices the Hero of the South, commented, “I am honored to be able to participate in Frieren Beyond Journey's End. I had the privilege of playing the Hero of the South. He did not have a large number of lines, which made it a difficult role. He is a person with quiet resolve. I performed the role in the hope that viewers would later think, ‘I see.’”
Serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday, Frieren Beyond Journey's End is described as an after fantasy that depicts what happens after the hero’s party defeats the Demon King. The story follows Frieren, an elf mage, as she embarks on new adventures with new companions in a world after the hero has passed away.
