On X, the series announced, “Revealed today on the obi band of volume 15, now on sale. A live action film adaptation has been confirmed.” The post continued, “This is amazing. Following the anime, it is now getting a movie adaptation as well. This is all thanks to everyone’s support. Thank you so much. The cover of volume 15 features On chan, she is so cute. The story is incredibly fun again this time, and we really want everyone in the world to read it. On the very last page, Wanda delivers an unexpected line. The anime will also air its final episode tomorrow, so please be sure to watch it. We truly appreciate your continued support for Wandance, whether it is the original manga, the anime, or the upcoming film.”

Serialized in Monthly Afternoon, Wandance tells the story of Kaboku Kotani, a high school student who struggles to express his feelings due to a stutter. His life changes when he becomes captivated by his classmate Hikari Wanda, who dances freely without concern for how others see her. Drawn into her world, Kaboku challenges himself to communicate through freestyle dance, an expressive form that requires no words. The series presents a deeply moving youth story centered on self expression, connection, and emotional growth.

The manga has gained widespread acclaim for its bold and powerful dance scenes, alongside its delicate portrayal of human relationships and bittersweet romance. Its popularity extends far beyond Japan, with the manga published in ten languages worldwide. In North America, it received the “You Should Read This Manga 2023” award in the category of titles fans hope to see adapted into anime, reflecting strong international demand for visual adaptations. That anticipation was realized when the television anime began airing in October 2025.

The anime adaptation features world renowned dancer RIEHATA as dance producer, known for choreographing performances for major artists including BTS. Her involvement brought an unprecedented level of authenticity to the dance animation, earning praise for its realism and intensity. With the live action film now confirmed, expectations are high for how the energy and emotional depth of Wandance will be translated into a real world cinematic experience.
