Tengen is an essential presence residing in the lowest level of Tokyo Jujutsu High known as the Tombs of the Star Corridor Main Hall, possessing the Immortality Cursed Technique and acting as the foundation of Japan’s barrier system. Describing her interpretation of the character, Sakakibara explained that she sees Tengen as someone who also carries an “old and cunning” aspect. She added that she has been contemplating “what it means to exist for more than 500 years without death, and what thoughts such a being would hold while continuing to live.” She noted that portraying Tengen likely requires her to “keep asking questions that have no definitive answers.”

■Sakakibara
Tengen is a Jujutsu Sorcerer with exceptional barrier techniques who has lived for more than 500 years thanks to the Immortality Cursed Technique, while also keeping distance from the group that worships them as a god. I imagine that this makes Tengen a character with an ‘old and cunning’ side as well.
I have been contemplating what it means to be completely untouched by death for over 500 years and what kind of ‘thoughts’ such a being would carry while continuing to live. To portray ‘Tengen,’ I believe I must continue engaging with that question even if it is one without a clear answer.
