Takashimaya Unveils Pure Gold Captain Tsubasa Set for Japan’s 2026 New Year Lucky Bags

Japan’s department store Takashimaya has announced its lineup of fukubukuro, or New Year lucky bags, for 2026, offering shoppers a sense of celebration and extraordinary luxury. A fukubukuro is a long-standing Japanese retail tradition in which bags or boxes containing unknown assortments of goods are sold at the start of the year, allowing buyers to enjoy the thrill of chance and potentially receive items of significant value.

For 2026, the lineup goes far beyond expectations. Inspired by the Year of the Horse, Takashimaya will offer an experience that lets customers feel like partial horse owners. Other offerings include a multi-event good-luck bundle, an ultra high-end set featuring a pure gold soccer ball and Captain Tsubasa figure, and even a trailer house presented as a “moving vacation home.”
