ONE PIECE Live-Action Season 3 Casts Xolo Maridueña as Luffy’s Brother Ace
Netflix has officially announced that Xolo Maridueña, known for his roles in the Netflix series Cobra Kai and the DC film Blue Beetle, has been cast as Portgas D. Ace — the older brother of Luffy and one of the most pivotal figures in the ONE PIECE saga. Ace will make his debut in Season 3 of the live-action series.

Based on Eiichiro Oda’s globally beloved manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha), ONE PIECE follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew on an epic seafaring adventure as they chase the dream of becoming the Pirate King.
Season 1 portrayed the “East Blue” arc, chronicling Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) gathering his core crewmates — Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero), and Sanji (Taz Skylar) while facing formidable enemies along the way.
Season 2 will expand the journey into the perilous “Grand Line,” a sea of chaos where unpredictable climates, fearsome creatures, and ruthless pirates await. The new season will premiere globally on Netflix on March 10, 2026. The story will trace the path toward the Alabasta Kingdom, including iconic locations such as Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Twin Cape, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island.
In Season 3, the narrative will finally introduce Ace, who first appeared in the manga under the chapter title “Ace Appears.” His arrival marks a major turning point in Luffy’s adventure.
Maridueña, who showcased dynamic and emotionally charged performances as Miguel in Cobra Kai and Jaime Reyes in Blue Beetle, is widely praised for his sharp, fluid action sequences.
In the newly released teaser video, Iñaki Godoy passionately calls out, “Brother, see you on set!” to which Xolo replies with equal fervor, “Yeah, Iñaki, let’s do this.” Their on-screen brotherhood and off-screen camaraderie promises explosive chemistry as filming for Season 3 begins soon in Cape Town, South Africa.
