Manga artist and House of Councillors member Ken Akamatsu, known for hit works such as Love Hina and Negima! Magister Negi Magi, updated his official X account on October 21 to commemorate the start of Love Hina’s serialization 27 years ago.

In his post, Akamatsu wrote, “On this day in 1998, the first chapter of Love Hina was published in Weekly Shonen Magazine. It was the first time in history that a magazine cover was colored using CG (ps4),” recalling the milestone moment.

He also reflected on the era, noting, “At that time, Magazine was enjoying a streak of hits like The Kindaichi Case Files and GTO, and it even surpassed Jump in circulation. Those were the days. What were you all doing back then? (Or were you not born yet?)”

Akamatsu also shared a color illustration from Love Hina along with his post.
